Your Building Decides How We Work

Furniture repair New York City wide runs on access — a walk-up stair, a service elevator window, a COI on file. Tell us the address and the rest follows.

The Short Version

Most of it never leaves your apartment

Color loss, cracking, scuffs, tears and a single failed panel are all repaired in the room the piece sits in — one visit, no truck, no storage bill. Most of what we are called to in the city is a leather sofa, a sectional or a recliner. What actually goes to the workshop is a short list: broken frames, collapsed springs, and full reupholstery of loose furniture.

Fixed booths and banquettes are the exception that surprises people. Those we re-cover in place, overnight, and the room opens on time. Start with leather repair in New York City, or see the full range of restoration services and the materials we work in.

Furniture Repair New York City: the Building Comes First

Every job here is quoted from the address, not just the sofa. Five things about the building change the plan, and all five are worth telling us up front.

  1. 01

    The walk-up

Four flights and a tight turn at the landing decides whether a sofa can come out at all. When it can't, the repair happens where the piece stands — which is the usual answer in a Brooklyn brownstone or a Village walk-up.

  2. 02

    The service elevator window

Most buildings release the freight car for a set window, booked ahead, weekdays only. We schedule to your building's window rather than asking the building to move for ours.

  3. 03

    The certificate of insurance

Managing agents want a certificate of insurance naming the building before anyone gets past the lobby. Send the requirements and we file it. It is routine, but it takes a day or two to clear, so it is worth starting early.

  4. 04

    The loading dock

Commercial addresses route deliveries through a dock with its own hours and its own sign-in desk. Tell us which dock and we schedule against it instead of arriving at the front door.

  5. 05

    The service entrance

Passenger elevators are off-limits for furniture in most doorman buildings. Knowing the service entrance in advance is the difference between a twenty-minute collection and a wasted trip.

Before Anything Moves

We look at it first, and often that ends it

A few photos and a couple of questions settle most of what we need to know: what the finish is doing, whether the damage is through the hide or only in the color coat, and whether the frame is sound. Plenty of pieces booked in for collection turn out to be same-visit repairs.

The assessment is what tells you which one you have — and it costs nothing.

When the Problem Is the Leather Itself

Leather is the most common furniture repair New York City job on our books. Dye transfer, sun fade, a cracked headrest, a split along a seam — leather is matched and refinished panel by panel rather than re-covered. Keeping the original hide holds the color and grain a replacement panel cannot match, which on a piece worth keeping is the whole point.

The leather page walks through what each kind of damage takes, and the point at which replacing a panel beats saving it.

Commercial

The room closes, then we start

Commercial furniture repair New York City work is scheduled outside opening hours. Restaurants, hotels, offices and clubs across the five boroughs get a crew that arrives once the last table is cleared, and the room is back in service before it opens again. Booths are re-covered where they are bolted down — nothing is unbolted and carted away — and the same visit picks up the bar stools, dining chairs and office seating around them.

When a whole run of booths or a whole floor needs doing, it is quoted as one bulk project rather than piece by piece, and venues that would rather stay ahead of the wear put it on a monthly maintenance round. Everything we do for operators is on the commercial side of the site.

Questions

Asked most often

Which parts of New York City do you cover?

Furniture repair New York City coverage runs to all five boroughs, with 38 neighborhood pages underneath them. If your neighborhood is not listed it is almost certainly still covered — the pages exist for the areas we are asked about most, not for the limits of where we go.

Do you have to take my sofa away?

Usually not. Color loss, cracking, scuffs, tears and single-panel replacement are done in the room the furniture sits in. Only broken frames, spring work and full reupholstery of loose pieces need the workshop, and we tell you which one you have before anything is booked.

What does furniture repair New York City pricing depend on?

The damage, the material and the access. Travel and building time are quoted with the job rather than added afterwards, so the figure you see before we start is the figure you pay. Send photos and the address and the estimate is free.

My building needs a certificate of insurance. Can you provide one?

Yes, and it is routine. Send us the managing agent's requirements — the named insured, the coverage limits, the additional insureds — and we file the COI with the building before the visit. Allow a day or two for the agent to approve it, and book the elevator once it clears.

Can you work evenings and weekends?

In commercial spaces that is the normal way to do it. Restaurants, hotels, offices and clubs are scheduled after the room closes so nothing is lost from the trading day. In homes it depends on the building — many co-ops only release the service elevator on weekdays, which is the constraint we work around.
