Fixing one piece is easy. Making it disappear is the job.
Modular seating is forgiving in a way a fixed-frame sofa never is. A backrest that took a spill, a seat that carried the weight for ten years, a corner unit the dog chose — the failure stays inside that unit, and the unit can be worked on its own. That is why a whole-sofa quote is usually the wrong answer.
The match is against its neighbours, not the original colour. A module that has faced a window for years is no longer the shade it left the showroom as. We build the colour from the panels either side of the repair, so the eye has nothing to catch on.
Uneven wear is the tell, not the damage. Restore one module to factory-new and it reads as new furniture parked next to old. Sometimes the right move is a light pass across the neighbouring units so the whole run ages together again.
Texture survives or the repair shows. Full-grain and semi-aniline hides — the kind tanneries like Muirhead produce — carry their character in the grain. Anything thick enough to bury a crack is thick enough to bury that grain, so we build in thin layers and keep the surface reading as leather.

Only one module of my sofa is damaged. Do you have to take the whole thing?
No. That is the advantage of modular seating — the damage is contained in one unit, so the work can be too. Most Roche Bobois leather repair on a modular set is done in your home, on the affected module, with the rest of the sofa untouched. Only a full panel replacement or a rebuilt seat interior needs to come to the workshop, and we tell you which it is before anything moves.
Will the repaired module still match the ones next to it?
That is the part we spend the most time on. We never match to a factory reference, because the modules beside yours have not been factory colour for years. The match is built against the panel next to the repair and blended outward. If the difference between units has already grown wide, we will say so and quote a light pass across the run rather than pretend one module can be brought back in isolation.
The seat has gone flat but the leather looks fine. Is that a leather job?
Usually not. A module that has lost its shape is almost always tired fill, and recolouring the hide over it changes nothing you can sit on. We look at the interior first. Spending on a leather finish to solve a comfort problem is money going to the wrong layer.
Can you repair an aniline or nubuck hide?
Yes, but the honest answer is that the range of what can be done is narrower. Lightly finished hides absorb everything, so stains often sit in the fibre rather than on top of it, and heavy correction leaves a patch that reads as plastic. On those leathers we work conservatively and tell you up front how far the mark will come back, rather than promising it will vanish.
Should I use a leather conditioner on it in the meantime?
Be careful, and test on the underside of a cushion first. A silicone or solvent-heavy dressing can darken a panel permanently or leave a blotch that will not level out, and on an unfinished hide that damage is not reversible. If a panel has genuinely dried out, it needs something that stays flexible, applied evenly across the whole module rather than dabbed onto the dry patch.
