Brown leather recliner repair NYC service on a reclined chair in a Manhattan apartment

Home/Furniture/Leather Recliners

Recliners

Comfort restored.
Craftsmanship preserved.

Your recliner is the one seat in the house that touches you from head to heel — and the two ends wear out in opposite directions. We fix both, in your room, in the chair.

Same chair. A brighter tomorrow.

From minor repairs to complete restoration

Complete leather recliner care

Most leather recliner repair is surface work done in the room. The list still runs all the way to a new hide.

Before and after

Same recliner. A whole new life.

One leather recliner repair, start to finish: faded, blotchy and worn through at every contact point, then rebuilt on the same frame with nothing replaced but the surface.

Why one chair needs two repairs

The two ends fail in opposite directions.

Hair and skin oil collects at the top of the backrest in a band the width of a head. It soaks into the hide and softens the finish from underneath. Nothing has been rubbed away — something has been added.

The footrest is the opposite. It is the only leather in the house people put their shoes on. Heels abrade the finish off the panel while it folds and unfolds under them.

Treat both with one process and one of them returns. Oil has to be drawn out and the binder re-keyed before any colour goes on; abrasion needs the panel rebuilt back up to level first. Same chair, same hide, two different jobs.

Every leather recliner repair here starts with two photos — the headrest, and the footrest extended — not one of the whole chair. Both failures happen in the finish, which is the part you cannot judge from across the room — and oils left sitting in a hide go on to stiffen and darken it from within.

Which leather recliner repair you need follows the damage, not the chair. Cracking that has already opened is a crack repair job; a lifting finish is usually colour restoration; a panel worn through gets replaced outright.

Attention to every detail

Built in moving parts, restored with precision

A recliner is a chair with a machine inside it. Every panel below flexes, folds or slides against another one, so every leather recliner repair on this list has to survive being opened and closed thousands more times.

Repair, restore, or reupholster?

Double-stitched leather arm cap on a brown recliner

Repair

Damage you can point at. A scuff, a small tear, one worn arm. The rest of the hide is sound and stays untouched.

Restore

Damage that has spread. Colour is stripped back, the surface is levelled and rebuilt, and the whole chair is brought to one tone.

Reupholster

The hide is spent, not just marked. New leather over the frame and mechanism you already own, which is the part still worth keeping.

Most chairs land in the middle. We tell you which one yours is before any leather recliner repair is quoted, and we would rather talk you out of a reupholstery you do not need.

More leather furniture

The recliner is rarely the only piece.

If the chair has aged away from the rest of the room, the match matters more than the repair. Start at the furniture index or go straight to the piece.

Before you send photos

Recliners, answered plainly

Do you take the recliner away?
Almost never. Nearly all leather recliner repair is done in your room, on the chair, in a single visit. Only a full reupholstery needs the workshop, because the cover has to come off the mechanism and go back on stretched.
Can you match the colour on just one panel?
Yes, and on a recliner it is usually the wrong call. Colour is mixed at the chair and blended out past the repair, but a footrest that has been abraded for years sits several shades off the back it folds into. We normally bring a whole surface to one tone rather than spot-patching.
Will the repair crack again when the chair folds?
Not if the right material went in. Flex zones take a pliable backing and a flexible pigment; a hard filler used on a footrest hinge will split the first week. That is the single most common reason a previous leather recliner repair has failed by the time we see it.
Does the mechanism get touched?
Only when we have to reach behind it. We are upholsterers, not mechanics: we free the cover, work, and refit. If the frame or motor itself is broken, we will say so plainly rather than quote around it.
Which photos should I send?
Three: the headrest straight on, the footrest fully extended, and the arm on the side you use the lever with. Daylight, no flash. Those three cover the places a recliner actually fails.
