Poltrona Frau Leather Restoration
Pelle Frau is dyed through, not coated. The colour lives inside the hide, which changes what restoration can do — and what it should never do.
As individual as your furniture.
The pieces we see most often for Poltrona Frau leather restoration.

Sofas
Refined care for everyday living.

Armchairs
Preserve form, comfort and character.

Dining chairs
Beauty in the details.

Ottomans
Small pieces. Lasting presence.
Where the finish needs care.
On a dyed-through hide the damage goes in rather than off. Almost nothing here is a coating flaking away — it is colour and absorption.

Fading
Loss of color from use and light.

Scuffs
Surface marks from daily use.

Dryness
Leather can become dry but still intact.

Uneven tone
Color can look patchy over time.

Surface marks
Everyday marks and discoloration.
Restoration begins with understanding.
We assess the material and condition before recommending treatment.

Leather type
Different leathers need different care.

Color and undertone
We match the existing tone.

Grain and sheen
A finish that respects the leather.
One piece. A considered plan.
Treatment depends on leather type, and not every mark can be removed or every leather is suitable for coating.

Illustrative restoration examples
Keep the details that define it.
Poltrona Frau leather restoration aims at a balanced finish that respects the grain, seams and character of the piece. Because an aniline hide carries its colour all the way through, colour is rebuilt in translucent layers rather than hidden under an opaque film.

Is this an authorised Poltrona Frau restoration service?›
No. Leather Restore PRO is an independent workshop. We are not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by Poltrona Frau, and we do not supply original manufacturer covers or parts. We use the name only to identify the furniture we work on.
What does “dyed through” mean for a repair?›
An aniline hide carries its colour inside the leather instead of under a pigment film. There is no coating to hide behind, so colour has to be rebuilt in thin translucent layers. An opaque patch would cover the grain around it and read as a patch from across the room.
Can a faded or stained hide be colour-matched?›
Usually, and we match against the piece rather than a chart, because undertone shifts as leather ages. Fading and light staining respond well. A mark that has soaked deep into an uncoated hide may lighten rather than disappear, and we will say so before any work starts.
Can I clean it myself first?›
Please do not scrub it. With no protective film on the surface, a household cleaner or an aggressive wipe can strip colour and leave a blotchy patch that is harder to correct than the original mark. Dust it, keep it out of direct sun, and send us a photo.
Where do you work?›
Across New York — Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island, Long Island and Westchester. Some Poltrona Frau leather restoration is done in your home; heavier colour work and structural repairs go to the bench. Photos tell us which.
Character worth keeping.
Two photos — the whole piece and the mark up close — are enough for us to scope the Poltrona Frau leather restoration and tell you where it happens.
