Cookies
This cookie policy lists every cookie this website puts on your device, by name. There are six of them. We did not describe what we assume is there — we loaded the site in a clean browser, touched nothing, and read what actually landed.
Four of the six are not needed to make the site work. Two of those four belong to Google’s advertising system, and all four are set the moment you arrive, before anyone asks you. You should read that here rather than discover it yourself.
- How many
- Six, on an ordinary visit with nothing clicked.
- How we know
- A clean browser profile loaded on 28 September 2026, then inspected.
- What this covers
- This cookie policy covers this website. Our privacy policy covers what you send us.
Every Cookie By Name
Six cookies, and what each one is for
Every entry below gives the cookie’s real name, who sets it, how long it stays, and what it does in plain words. A cookie policy that only names categories is not much use to anyone trying to decide what to allow.
Measuring how the site is used
2 cookies — optional
_ga
- Set by
- Google Analytics
- Lasts
- About 13 months
- Whose
- Ours (first party)
Gives your browser a random number so Analytics can tell a returning visitor from a new one. It does not contain your name, your address or anything you typed, and we never try to match it against a customer record.
_ga_LKYGNFTFEK
- Set by
- Google Analytics
- Lasts
- About 13 months
- Whose
- Ours (first party)
Does the same job as the one above, but only for this site. The characters after the underscore are our Analytics account number. They say nothing about you, and they are the same for every visitor.
Advertising
2 cookies — optional
_gcl_au
- Set by
- Google Ads
- Lasts
- 90 days
- Whose
- Ours (first party)
Set on every visit by Google Ads, so Google can link a later enquiry back to an advert you may have clicked, and tell us which adverts led to an enquiry. This is an advertising cookie. It is set before you are asked, and we would rather say so than bury it.
test_cookie
- Set by
- doubleclick.net, a Google advertising domain
- Lasts
- About 15 minutes
- Whose
- Someone else’s (third party)
The only cookie here that is not ours. Google’s advertising system sets it purely to check whether your browser accepts third-party cookies at all. It holds nothing about you and it is gone within the hour, but it is a third-party cookie and it belongs on this list.
Keeping the site working
2 cookies
cmplz_banner-status
- Set by
- Complianz, our consent plugin
- Lasts
- 1 year
- Whose
- Ours (first party)
Set by our consent plugin to record the state of its consent notice. That notice is currently switched off, so this cookie changes nothing you see. It holds nothing about you.
hcdn
- Set by
- Our hosting company’s servers
- Lasts
- Until you close the browser
- Whose
- Ours (first party)
Sent by the server rather than by any script on the page. It keeps you on the same copy of the site so pages load quickly. It cannot be read by JavaScript and it disappears when your browser closes.
If you fill in a form or allow browser notifications, one or two more may appear for those specific jobs. The six above are what an ordinary visit produces.
What Is Not Here
The tracking this site does not do
Knowing what is absent is worth as much as knowing what is present, so this cookie policy states it plainly. None of the following were loading when we checked.
No Meta or Facebook pixel
There is no Facebook tracking code on this site. We are not building an advertising audience from your visit and we do not pass anything to Meta.
No session recording or heat maps
Nothing here records your screen, your mouse movements or your keystrokes. There is no tool replaying your visit to us afterwards.
No adverts served on this site
We advertise on Google and measure whether it worked, which is what the two advertising cookies do. Google Ads can also use your visit to show our adverts to you later on other websites. We do not sell advertising space on this site, so nothing here is choosing adverts to show you on this page.
No TikTok, LinkedIn or Pinterest tracking
Our page-building software has sharing features for those networks, which is why their names appear if you read the page source. None of their tracking code is loaded.
Three things that are here but set nothing
The spam check on our forms, the browser-notification service and a Google sign-in script are all present in the page. None of them placed a cookie during our check. The notification service can only do anything after you click Allow on your browser’s own prompt.
An older page on this site disagrees with this one
Our consent plugin generated its own cookie list some time ago, and it still names Facebook, Microsoft Clarity, Google AdSense and a shopping cart. None of those exist here. That list was produced from a template rather than from this website, and this cookie policy is the one we stand behind.
Your Control
Refusing them, and what actually breaks
Every control below works whatever this cookie policy says, because they are yours rather than ours. Nothing you do here affects your estimate, your price or how we treat you.
In your browser
Block or delete them yourself
Every browser can block third-party cookies, clear what is already stored, or refuse cookies for one site. Look under Settings, then Privacy. This is the most complete option because it works on every website, not just ours.
On this site
Change your preferences
Our opt-out preferences page lets you object to your information being shared for advertising and record that choice with us in writing.
Do Not Track
We honour the browser signal
If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, this site is configured to respect it and hold back the optional cookies. Most websites ignore that signal entirely. We mention it because it costs you nothing and it works before you have to read anything.
What breaks
Nothing you would notice
Block all four optional cookies and the site behaves exactly as before. We lose the ability to see which pages are useful and which adverts brought you here. The hosting cookie cannot be refused separately, but it holds nothing about you and ends with your browser.
You never have to use this website at all. If you would rather ask about a repair by phone or text, we can do the whole job that way.
Questions
Ask us what a cookie is doing
If you want to know why something on this list exists, or you find a cookie here that we have not named, tell us. Useful things to include:
- the name of the cookie, exactly as your browser shows it
- the page you were on when it appeared
- the browser you were using
We check this list by hand rather than by automatic scan, which means it can fall out of date between checks. If what you see does not match what is written here, you are probably right and we will correct this cookie policy.
For what happens to the information you actually send us — your name, your address, your photographs — read our privacy policy. Questions about the repair work itself are answered in the help center.
