Law firm furniture repair in a Manhattan boardroom: walnut table and black leather conference chairs

Law firm furniture repair — NYC

Your client sees the furniture before the lawyer.

Conference chairs, partner suites and reception seating in Manhattan firms. Worked after hours, on the floor, with the set back in service before the first meeting.

What we work on

One firm, several kinds of furniture.

A firm buys its seating in sets and wears it out one seat at a time. Law firm furniture repair starts with the seat that broke ranks.

Before and after

Law firm furniture repair changes the finish, not the frame.

Which service

What is left on the frame decides the job.

Law firm furniture repair splits three ways, and most firms need two of them in the same room.

Repair

Fix the damage so it does not spread.

  • Tears and split seams
  • Burns and punctures
  • Gouged arm caps
  • Loose or open stitching
  • Localized cracking

Restoration

Bring the colour back to the whole set.

  • Fading and discolouration
  • Worn colour on arms
  • Surface wear and dullness
  • Dry, aged leather
  • Loss of sheen
Commercial Furniture Restoration

Reupholstery

Replace material that has failed outright.

  • Peeling bonded leather
  • Brittle, cracked vinyl
  • Collapsed foam
  • Damaged or split panels
  • New material throughout

Materials

Different materials, different repair.

What the seat is covered in sets what can be done to it.

Black pigmented leather swatch

Leather

Takes pigment better than anything else on a chair. Recoloured in place.

Commercial vinyl upholstery swatch

Commercial vinyl

Fails by cracking, not by thinning. Patched and heat-welded.

Faux leather upholstery swatch

Faux leather

Peels once the coating lets go. Usually a recover, not a repair.

Performance fabric upholstery swatch

Performance fabric

Cleaned and re-stretched; torn panels replaced from the same run.

Wood

Arms, legs and boardroom tables. Scratches filled, sheen matched.

Hides and vinyls come from Global Leathers and District Leather Supply, so a recovered chair is matched to stock we can order again.

Colour matching

One repaired chair should not look different.

The colour is mixed against the chairs beside it, not to a catalogue number.

Sheen is matched with the shade.

A gloss mismatch carries further across a room than a shade mismatch does. Both are mixed on site, sprayed on a test area and approved in the room's own light before the damaged seat is touched.

How colour matching works

Room by room

The three rooms a client actually sits in.

Reception, the waiting area and the boardroom carry the whole impression. They are also where most law firm furniture repair actually happens.

Projects

One seat, or every floor.

Firms rarely order a single chair. Law firm furniture repair is scheduled by the room first, then the floor.

01

A single seat

A partner's chair goes. We come out for it.

02

A room

A boardroom set matched to itself in one evening.

03

A floor

Reception, conference and offices in a single after-hours run.

04

The whole firm

Multi-floor work, staged in bulk so no floor loses its seating.

Questions

What firms settle before booking.

Can law firm furniture repair be done after hours?
Yes, and it usually is. Crews work evenings, overnight and weekends so a conference room is back in service before the first meeting. Building access, insurance paperwork and freight-elevator windows are arranged before the date is confirmed.
Will one repaired chair match the rest of the set?
That is the whole point of the job. Colour and sheen are mixed on site against a chair nobody has touched, sprayed on a test area, and approved in the room's own light before the damaged seat is worked.
Do the chairs have to leave the building?
Most do not. Repair, recolouring and colour matching are done on the floor. Full reupholstery of loose chairs sometimes goes to the workshop, but benches and built-in seating are always recovered where they stand.
Can you work in a building that requires a certificate of insurance?
Yes. We carry general liability and workers' compensation and issue a certificate naming the building and the managing agent before the first visit. Most Manhattan towers ask for one, and it is sent as part of scheduling.
Repair or reupholster — how do we decide?
By what has failed. If the cover is sound and the damage is local, it is a repair. If the colour has gone across the whole piece, it is restoration. If the material is peeling or the foam has collapsed, only new upholstery fixes it.

Get a number

Send two photographs.

One of the damage, one of an undamaged chair for the colour. Add the seat count and the floor. Law firm furniture repair is quoted from that.
