Terms and Conditions

Leather Restore PRO is a mobile leather repair and restoration business working in New York and New Jersey. These terms and conditions cover how we quote, how we work and how we are paid. They apply from the moment you approve an estimate.

Your written estimate is the agreement

Almost everything that matters about your job is decided on one document, and it is not this one. Your written estimate names the price, the piece, the surfaces being worked on and the cover that follows. You get it before you commit to anything, and where it differs from these terms and conditions, the estimate is what governs.

These terms and conditions are the other part — the rules that are the same on every job, whoever you are and whatever we are repairing.

PriceThe figure you approve. Not a range, and not revised after the fact.
ScopeThe surfaces listed as being repaired, not the whole piece.
DepositWhether one applies, how much, and when it is due.
ScheduleWhen we come, and when the balance is payable.
Warranty termHow long cover runs on the work being done.

Five things, set per job, in writing, before any work begins. If any of them is missing from your estimate, ask us before you approve it.

Estimates

Getting a price costs nothing

Send photographs, get a real number, walk away if you want to.

Estimates are free and carry no obligation. We quote from photographs, so the quote is only as good as what we can see — we ask for one full view of the piece and a close-up of every damaged area, not just the worst one.

For most repairs we can confirm a price from photographs alone, and the quoted price is the price. Telling you a piece is not worth repairing is a normal outcome, and it costs you nothing to find out.

Changes

When a price can change, and when it cannot

Only for something the photographs could not show — and you hear about it before we carry on, not after.

An approved price changes for three reasons only:

  • Damage that was not visible in the photographs
  • A different material than the photographs suggested
  • A previous repair underneath the area we are working on

If any of those turns up, we stop and tell you what it means for the price before the work continues. You can approve the new figure, reduce the scope, or stop and pay only for work already completed. What we will not do is finish the job and present a larger bill at the end.

We do not price match against other quotes. The number we give is the number we stand behind.

Deposits

Deposits, and the jobs that need one

Only where material is bought specially for you.

Most repairs need no deposit. Reupholstery and any job using special-order material do, because the material is bought per job and cannot be put back. Where a deposit applies, the amount and the schedule are stated in your written estimate before you approve it, never raised afterwards.

Payment

How and when you pay

After the work is finished, unless your estimate says otherwise.

Payment is due on completion unless a deposit or a different schedule is written into your estimate. We accept:

  • Cash
  • Check, payable to Leather Restore PRO
  • Business Zelle

Credit cards are not currently accepted. If that is a problem for your job, say so at the estimate stage rather than on the day.

Access

We come to the furniture

The work happens where the piece is, so we need to reach it.

The work is mobile. We need the address the furniture is actually at, enough room to work around the piece, and an adult present to let us in and approve the finished work. Please clear the area around the furniture before we arrive.

If a piece has to come to the workshop instead, that is agreed in advance and written on your estimate, along with who moves it.

The work

What we are and are not touching

We work on the surfaces your estimate lists. The rest of the piece keeps ageing as it was.

A repair is attached to an area, not to an object. If we recolour one cushion, that cushion is what we have worked on. Nothing we do makes the rest of the piece new, and we will not imply otherwise to win a job.

Repaired leather is blended into the surrounding hide rather than reproduced from the factory. On an aged or heavily worn piece a repair is judged at normal viewing distance, and we will tell you honestly what to expect before you approve anything.

Materials

Some materials limit what is possible

Bonded and faux leather fail as a material. If yours is either, you hear it before we start.

Bonded and faux leather break down as a material rather than as a surface finish, which puts a hard ceiling on what a repair can achieve and on what can be guaranteed. Where your piece is one of those, we tell you before any work begins, not after. The same applies to unprotected hides such as aniline and nubuck, which absorb rather than resist.

If you are not sure what you have, our material guide is the quickest way to find out.

Aftercare

Curing time is part of the job

A repair is not finished when we leave. Follow the instructions you are given.

Repaired leather needs time before normal use, and you are told how long on the day. Using the piece too early, cleaning it with the wrong product, or applying an unapproved conditioner can undo work that was sound when we left — and it is the one thing that most often puts damage outside cover.

Warranty

Cover is on our work, in our area

A workmanship warranty, not a condition guarantee for the whole piece.

Cover begins the day the work is completed and runs for the period written on your estimate. It covers the ways our own work can fail: adhesion lifting, colour instability on the repaired area, stitching we replaced, and panels or cushions failing at our seams.

It does not cover new damage, normal wear outside the repaired area, or material that was already deteriorating and that we never treated. The full lists, and how to make a claim, are on the workmanship warranty page.

Photographs

Your photographs are for quoting

We will not put your furniture on this website without asking you first.

The photographs you send are used to assess the piece, quote it, and keep a record of what was done. We do not use them in advertising or on this website without asking you first. How we handle the rest of your information is set out in our privacy policy.

Commercial

If the furniture belongs to a business

Certificates of insurance are issued per venue, before we arrive.

Commercial work carries its own paperwork. Certificates of insurance are issued per venue or building, naming whichever parties your management company requires, and they are arranged before the first visit rather than on the day.

Fixed booths and banquettes are reupholstered in place, outside trading hours where the room needs to open as normal the next day. Whole rooms and repeat runs are quoted as a single project.

If something is wrong

Tell us before you tell anyone else

We look at it before we decide anything.

If you are unhappy with the work, contact us first and give us the chance to look at it. Send photographs of the area in daylight, a photograph of the whole piece, and the date of the original repair. Having the same area reworked by somebody else before we have seen it makes it impossible for us to stand behind our own work.

Changes to this page

These terms and conditions can be updated

The version that applies to your job is the one in force when you approved the estimate.

We may revise this page as the business changes. When we do, the date at the top changes with it. A revision does not alter a job already agreed — your estimate, and the terms and conditions in force on the day you approved it, are what apply to that work.

Not On This Page

Two things that have their own page

Cover and personal data are both long enough to deserve proper treatment, so neither is compressed into a clause inside these terms and conditions.

Contact

Ask before you approve, not after

If anything in these terms and conditions is unclear, or your job needs something they do not cover, ask at the estimate stage. A person reads every message.
