Before you send it
01What is a commercial furniture repair quote?
It is a written figure for named work on named pieces. A commercial furniture repair quote lists each piece or group, says what will be done to it, names the material going back on, states whether the piece is handled in your room or collected and returned, and gives the hours the crew will be on site. The total sits under that list, not above it. If a document gives you a number without the list, there is nothing to hold anyone to later, and no way to tell whether the second bid you are comparing it against covers the same work.
02What do you need from us before you can quote?
Six lines and a few photographs. The room and where it is, the count of pieces, the material if anyone knows it, what is wrong in plain words, photographs of the worst of it, and the window when the room is free. That is enough to price the great majority of commercial work. If any line is missing we ask for it rather than guessing, because a guess in the intake becomes a change in the figure later, and that is the part clients rightly object to.
03How long does it take to get the quote back?
Same day for a single piece or one bay, usually within a few hours of the photographs arriving. A full room, a floor of offices or a multi-site count takes longer, because the material has to be checked for availability before a figure is put against it. If the article on your booths has been withdrawn, the honest answer is not a fast number, it is a day spent finding what still exists in that weight and colour. We tell you which of the two you are in when the request comes in.
04Can you quote from photographs, or do you need to see the room?
Photographs are enough for most of it. Splits, colour loss, scuffing, cracked finish, worn top edges and a racked frame all read clearly in a picture shot in the room’s own light without flash. Two things do not photograph: foam that has collapsed under a cover that still looks sound, and a frame that has gone soft at the joints. If your description points at either, we say so and put a visit in front of the number instead of pretending the picture settled it.
05Is the quoted figure fixed, or does it move once work starts?
The figure is fixed to the scope written on it. It moves only if a piece opens up worse than it could be seen to be from the outside, which in practice means foam or frame, and it never moves without you being told first and agreeing to it. The quote names that risk against the specific pieces where it exists rather than burying a general disclaimer at the bottom, so you know before you accept which pieces carry it and which do not.
06We have forty pieces across three floors. Is that still a quote?
Yes, and it is priced differently. Repeat work across identical pieces drops the figure per piece, because the material is bought once, the colour is mixed once and the crew sets up once. Multi-floor work is quoted as a sequence rather than a single visit, so a floor is finished and back in service before the next one is opened. Counts at that size usually route through the bulk projects programme, and if the building wants the same work on a repeating basis it belongs on a maintenance contract rather than a series of separate quotes.
