A reupholstered medical treatment chair in a Manhattan clinic with the city through the window

Every cutout goes back where the hardware is.

A treatment chair is upholstery fitted around actuators, hinges, control panels and foot switches. The cover has to go back around all of it.

Upholstery around working equipment

The cover is cut to the machine, not the frame.

Medical chair reupholstery NYC starts with a pattern taken off the chair itself, so it still folds, latches and reads its own controls afterwards.

Eleven chairs, eleven sets of hardware

Each one hides its equipment differently, so medical chair reupholstery NYC quotes start with what the chair has to do, not what it looks like.

Vinyl fails differently from leather.

Where clinic seating gives out

Disinfectant strips the top coat, and every patient loads the same two square inches. Most medical chair reupholstery NYC work starts at one of these eight.

Before / after

Same chair, same hardware, new cover.

The pads come off, every cutout is transferred to the new panels, and each one bolts back to the point it came off. Medical chair reupholstery NYC is judged on that, not on the colour.

A treatment chair is five or six panels.

What actually comes off

The panel that carries the patient, and the one that fails first.
Worn treatment chair armrest pad split along its top corner

Armrest pads

The narrowest panel and the most handled, so usually the first one to split.

Usually one skin stretched over a rigid shell, with no seam to hide a mistake.

Every pad unbolts on its own

Replace the panel that failed.

A split seat pad does not need a new chair. Where the rest of the cover still has years in it, we pattern one panel and put it back. The method is set out on the panel replacement page.

Foam usually fails before the cover does.

New parts, not just new vinyl

Foam and pads are half of most medical chair reupholstery NYC quotes, because a chair that has flattened will flatten a new cover too.

Materials

What the cover has to survive.

Healthcare vinyl is specified for what gets wiped on it. Quaternary and bleach wipes follow the CDC disinfection guideline, and they will take the top coat off ordinary upholstery vinyl inside a year. We work in coated contract fabrics from houses like Mayer Fabrics, plus silicone where the wipe-down never stops.

Out in the lobby

Lobby seating is patterned off its own frame rather than off equipment, so it is quoted separately and explained on waiting room seating. Clinics normally recover both at once.

A lobby run is one colour across every frame in it, which is why these are recovered in a batch rather than one at a time.

Questions

Medical chair reupholstery NYC, question by question.

Can the chair stay in the office?

Armrest pads, headrests and single seat pads are swapped on site. A full recover goes to the Brooklyn workshop, because the panels have to come off onto a bench before they can be patterned.

Do we have to do the whole suite at once?

No. Jobs split two ways: one failed panel on one chair, or a run of identical chairs recovered together to one colour. Mixing the two is what leaves a room looking patched.

Will the new vinyl survive our disinfectant?

That is the specification, not an afterthought. Tell us what staff actually wipe with and how often. Bleach every hour and a quat wipe twice a day are two different materials.

The foam has collapsed but the vinyl looks fine.

Then the vinyl is not the job. Foam is rebuilt in layers and the original covers go back on. Worth saying up front: different work, different price.

How should I photograph a treatment chair for a quote?

Two frames of the whole chair, one upright and one fully reclined, then one close on the damage. The fold is where a cover gives itself away.

Start here

Send it upright, then send it reclined.

The fold is where a cover gets it wrong. Two photos of the same chair settle most quotes before anyone visits.
