What is Crate & Barrel leather repair?

It is the repair of the leather itself rather than replacement of the piece: filling and re-graining scuffed or cracked hide, closing tears, restitching seams, lifting stains and rebuilding colour so the finish matches the panels around it. On a low, clean-lined Crate & Barrel frame the repair has to disappear at normal viewing distance, because there is no skirt or deep roll to hide an edge.

Do you work in the home, or does the piece leave?

Most surface work is done in your home in one visit: scratches, scuffs, cracking, colour loss, stains and small tears. Work that needs the piece opened up, such as replacing a panel or rebuilding a collapsed seat, is quoted separately and may need the cushion or the piece collected.

Can you match the colour on a discontinued Crate & Barrel piece?

Yes. Colour is mixed on site against the hide in front of us, not against a catalogue reference, so a discontinued or long-faded finish is matched to the panel it sits beside. That matters most on a sectional, where one replaced or recoloured section has to read as the same piece as the ones next to it.

My piece may still be under warranty. Should I call you first?

No. Contact Crate & Barrel first. A structural fault such as a frame, spring or mechanism failure is a manufacturing issue and belongs with the retailer, and having an outside party work on the piece can affect what they will cover. Crate & Barrel leather repair covers what furniture warranties generally exclude: wear, scratches, scuffs, colour loss and accidental damage.

What does a repair cost?
