Eames Leather Chair Repair
An Eames lounge chair was built to be taken apart. The cushions unclip, the shells separate, the leather comes off in panels. That is why a worn one is almost always repaired rather than replaced — and why the work can happen in your living room.
Eames leather, chair by chair.
Lounge chairs and ottomans
Black, white, brown or something rarer — the hide, the dye and the way it has aged all change the approach. Eames leather chair repair starts with the finish in front of us, and these are the ones we see most often.
Common leather issues.
Most of what brings an owner here is surface damage on an otherwise sound chair. Eight problems account for nearly all of the Eames leather chair repair we do, and every one of them is repairable without recovering the piece.
Distinctive chairs. Considered care.
The lounge chair gets the attention, but the same leather and the same wear turn up across the rest of the range, and Eames leather chair repair covers all of it.
Where wear shows first.
Same chairs. A longer life.
Wear is not random. On these chairs it lands in the same six places, and catching it there is the difference between a touch-up and a new panel. Most Eames leather chair repair jobs begin at one of them.

The Eames lounge chair is a timeless piece of design. We bring it back to life with expert Eames leather chair repair, color matching and restoration — keeping the hide it came with wherever the hide will allow it.
All leather colors.
Color is mixed against your chair, not chosen from a chart. These are the families Eames leather chair repair matches into most often for a seamless restoration.
The right approach for your chair.
Eames leather chair repair runs down one of three routes, decided by what the leather can still do rather than by what is quickest.
Care at home. Precision in the workshop.
Most jobs never need new leather at all. When a panel is past saving, the replacement is cut from full-grain upholstery hide and matched to the original by weight, grain and color — the kind of hide carried by houses like Kravet.

Questions owners ask.
Can the original leather be saved, or does the chair need re-covering?→
In most cases it is saved. Scratches, scuffs, cracking, small tears, stains and lost color are all repaired on the hide that is already there. Re-covering a panel is the last option, not the first, and it is usually limited to the one panel that has failed rather than the whole chair.
Will the repaired area match the rest of the chair?→
Color is mixed against your own leather in daylight and tested on a hidden area before anything visible is touched. On an aged chair the surrounding hide has usually shifted from its original shade, so the match is made to the chair as it is now, not to a factory color.
Do you have to take the chair away?→
Often not. Surface repair, color work and conditioning are done in your home or office on a covered floor. Cushion rebuilds, panel replacement and machine stitching need the bench, so those go to the workshop and come back.
Is this an authorised Herman Miller repair service?→
No. We are an independent leather repair company and we are not affiliated with, authorised by or endorsed by Herman Miller. We are named here only to describe the furniture we work on. Herman Miller runs its own parts and service programme, and if your piece is still in warranty that is worth checking first.
Where do you cover?→
Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx and Staten Island, plus Long Island and the nearer parts of New Jersey. Send photographs first and we will tell you whether the job is an on-site visit or a workshop piece before we schedule anything.
